Letter Lab covers the groundwork of reading: knowing letters by name, knowing them in both cases, and knowing what sound each one makes. It moves from pure letter recognition up to picking out the sound a word begins with, which is where letter knowledge starts turning into reading.

The 8-10 level focuses on letter sounds inside words rather than just at the start, using a longer and less predictable word list.

What it teaches

• Uppercase and lowercase letter recognition
• Matching capital letters to their lowercase pair
• Beginning sounds
• Letter-sound correspondence

How to play

1. Read the prompt at the top of the screen.
2. Some rounds ask you to find a named letter.
3. Some show a capital and ask for its lowercase partner.
4. Some show a word and ask which sound it starts with.
