Odd One Out for Ages 5-7

Which one does not belong?

Odd One Out shows a small group of items where all but one share something, and asks the child to spot the exception. It is a categorising exercise: to find the odd one, the child has to first work out what rule the others follow. That is a genuinely different mental move from matching or counting.

The 5-7 level uses categories that need a second look, where the odd one shares some surface features with the rest.

How to play

1. Look at all the items in the group.
2. Work out what most of them have in common.
3. Tap the one that breaks the rule.
4. Try saying why out loud. That is the part that builds the skill.
