Pattern Spotter for Ages 5-7

What comes next?

Pattern Spotter shows the start of a sequence and asks what comes next. Patterns are the entry point to algebraic thinking: spotting the rule behind a sequence is the same skill as working out the rule behind a formula, just with shapes instead of symbols.

The 5-7 level extends to three-item repeats, growing patterns, and missing-item rounds, with number sequences counting in 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s.

What it teaches

How to play

  1. Look at the sequence along the top of the screen.
  2. Work out the rule. What keeps repeating or changing?
  3. Tap the item that should come next.
  4. Some rounds hide an item in the middle instead of the end.
