Which word sounds the same at the end?
Rhyme Time gives the child a word and a set of choices, and asks which one rhymes with it. Hearing that cat and hat end the same way is one of the strongest early predictors of later reading ability, and it is a listening skill rather than a reading one, so children can play this before they can read the words.
The 8-10 level includes rhymes that do not share a spelling pattern, which forces the child to judge by sound rather than by how the word looks.
